Personal Development Workshops

It’s all about having the right ‘tools’ and techniques in your toolbox; the confidence to use them; and the ability to use them at the right time. When you recognise how to use these tools and skills, it will become second nature, just like riding a bike or driving a car.

The following are a selection of available workshops.  If you have a specific issue you would like some support with, click here to email Scott Johnston. If we can’t provide it for you directly we’ll know someone who can.

Skills for Business – Skills for Life™

Every day we meet people and form judgements about them.  Often these are positive.  Often these are not.  Are you making the right impression?  Are you ‘losing your audience’ in the first few seconds?  Is this holding you back in sales, networking and creating rapport with new contacts?

Maybe you have lost your confidence:

  1. bullying
  2. major trauma
  3. returning to work
  4. excessive criticism

We are ALWAYS negotiating… yet how many of us are not confident when placed in that role? Do you find that people always say YES to you?  Or are you on the losing end of a deal?

OUR WORKSHOPS

Can you remain assertive or do you cross the line into aggressive? Is it confrontation? Can you say No?  Can you compromise to get to Yes?  How do you feel about the process of negotiating?

Are you comfortable networking?  We meet so many people and spend so much time working with others, whether as part of a team, in a supportive admin role or as a consultant.  There’s always scope for conflict.  Learn to spot it and deal with it.  ‘Track the triggers’ and either avoid conflict or anticipate it, so you can reduce its impact.

These and many more real business skills will help you become more effective at work.  They will also enhance your personal life.

Skills Workshops

Generally these are half day workshops. However, sessions can be tailored to your needs.  For example, one hour sessions at breakfast, lunchtime or at the end of the day.  Or full day sessions for those looking for a more detailed examination of a particular issue.

‘If you can’t face making a decision, hold a meeting’.

Sound familiar?  Learn to get more from your meetings by making them more decisive and effective.  Use your time well, cover the issues and learn to bring a discussion to a close. Be confident and accountable.

Get the best from your colleagues and personal relationships through supporting others and understanding their needs, before expecting them to understand your.

Learn the skills of positive communication to get the best from your time and from your colleagues – including your boss!

Bullying & harassment

This is a mushrooming side-effect of being busy and under pressure.

We are all so busy and under such pressure, that even the strongest person (male or female) can be reduced to long‑term stress-related absence.

Do you know what bullying is?  Isolation, name calling, intimidation, bad management, undermining colleagues to name but a few.  Command and control has had its day...

Bullying leads to dramatically reduced performance and increased sickness absence.  Learn instead to get the best form others by empowering them through positive interaction.

Management vs Leadership

  1. Do you know the difference?
  2. Which are you?  Which are you trying to be?
  3. Can you switch between these styles when you need to?
